Markus Guschelbauer: Montology
Opening on Thursday, August 20 at 7 pm.
Preview from: 3 pm.
20 August – 19 September 2020
The Alpine landscape – which appears to bravely and staunchly defy the encroachment of civilization, but is actually a fragile ecosystem that is threatened and endangered in many respects – is the backdrop of Markus Guschelbauer’s photographic installations. Equipped with his camera, rods, colours, and geometric forms, the artist wanders through the mountains. In this idyllic and wild-appearing landscape, he performs and interacts with the scenery and attempts to find new ways of communication between humankind and nature. With great ease, he engages with the mountain-scape – a theme that is centuries old and dealt with oft in art history – and poses questions concerning space, territory and its appropriation.
