Spaces of Photography / On, Above, Below, Over Photography

The exhibition entitled Ceci n’est pas une photographie and subtitled Spaces of Photography / On, Above, Below, Over Photography by Slovenian artist Alen Ožbolt will put on show a number of his mixed-media works that relate to the photographic medium on several different levels. The show presents works from 1984-1995, the period when Ožbolt was a member of the artist group VSSD, as well as the period after 1996 when he started working independently all the way to his recent projects from 2009-2014.

Alen Ožbolt (1966) is a visual artist who works across various media, using a multiplicity of techniques. He graduated from both the Fine Art Academies in Zagreb and in Ljubljana, and was a visiting artist at the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI). He was a leading member of the group VSSD from 1984-1995, which exhibited at the Venice Biennial twice during the 1990-ies. He has been working independently since 1996. Since 2007 he has been a professor of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, where he lives and works.
