A New Vision of Debris in Budapest

Budapest Photo Festival is a city-wide annual series of exhibitions featuring contemporary and classical examples of art photography from Hungary, as well as internationally. The festival strives for recognition of Budapest as “The City of Photography”. This year we are contributing to the festival program with the exhibition A New Vision of Debris: Contemporary Photo-collage, which was shown at Photon Gallery in Ljubljana in June 2019.
This group exhibition brings together a selection of international artists who use the technique of photo-collage in their work. In recent years, we have seen a strong rise in interest in the collage among artists, especially in the photographic medium. If collage had been considered a peripheral art form until the advent of avant-garde art when it was established as discontinuation of tradition and as a metaphor for modern, accelerated life, something that resonates in contemporary times. You can read more about the exhibition here.
Presented artists: Alexandra Baumgartner, Caroline Heider, Herbert Hofer, Iosif Kiraly, Marko Lipuš, Aniko Robitz, Anita Witek in Metka Zupanič.
Open every weekday between 9 am and 4 pm at the exhibition space of the Austrian Cultural Forum Budapest.
