Borut Peterlin

Borut Peterlin graduated from Prague’s FAMU Academy (1994-98), and concluded a postgraduate study at the London College of Printing (2002-03. In 2000, he received a scholarship of the Benetton Group’s Research Center for Communication, Fabrica where he worked alongside the renowned photographer Oliviero Tosacani. Shortly after, in 2001, Peterlin co-founded Fotopub Festival of Documentary Photography in Novo Mesto, where he continued to work as an artistic director until 2008. He likewise worked as a photo-journalist for over 10 years at the weekly magazine Mladina. He currently lives and works in Novo mesto.

In recent year Peterlin’s has dedicated his practice to the pioneering photography processes of the 19th Century, which eventually led him to study with Mark Osterman at the George Eastman House in Rochester, USA. As an active vlogger, he conducts workshops on vintage photography techniques and also teaches around Europe. Since 2015 he organizes a yearly event by the name of Woodland Beyond Photography. Today, Peterlin conducts workshops throughout Europe. In 2015 he created a new annual photographic event in the deep forests of Slovenia entitled Woodland Beyond Photography. He exhibited worldwide, in venues such as the Konica-Minolta Gallery, Tokio, Japan / K2 Gallery – Izmir, Turkey / Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin, Germany/ Host Gallery, London, UK / Kaunas Photo Festival, Lithuania / Doland Museum, Shanghai, China / Photo Fringe Festival, Krakow, Poland, Arendt & Medernach, Luxembourg, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Ljubljana, Slovenia and many others.
